Grumpy Tuesday

Here is the dessert we did on Tuesday this week:   I was horribly behind on everything and spent quite a bit of the day feeling stressed out and overwhelmed, but the dessert went down well.
That day I took Hannah to music lessons with Miss Kahli and then did a bit of shopping at Eastlands.  Poor Hannah just about had her throat slashed by packaging in my arms in Kmart (she bled) and then dropped her lollipop (it smashed) and was virtually inconsolable, but I was able to buy the big girls some overlay quilts, and got some things for dinner and lunches this week.  Hannah asked for Lollies again and this time I succumbed.  That helped out with Dessert that night, but re-introduced the problem of little girls raiding the kitchen cupboard in the wee small hours of the morning.

I brought the big girls home after school and tried to do some tidying and sorting.  This never seems to work between school and dance lessons.  I ended up getting frustrated again, and it didn't help that I couldn't find  an item I'd promised to deliver to Mum, ran out of time and was late leaving again (it turned out that I'd already given it to her).

Fortunately I'd already made a curry for dinner (I made it on Sunday) because I really didn't do all that well at sorting out the house and was having enough trouble with state of the kitchen without having to deal with the cook up/clean up of yet another meal.

Mind you, the girls aren't too fussy.  Hannah for example was perfectly happy with cheesy toast for lunch on Wednesday.

Cheesey toast is always a hit at our house too! If I tried to hide lollies I'd be inviting a real ransacking of the hiding spots... glad my kids aren't the only ones! Love Hannah's piggys

It's funny how house work can overwhelm us at the best of times. I have to say though, in fairness to my family they are pretty good. Today Matt rebuilt one of the side fences. Shortly after the kids got home, the firewood arrived and so they all helped stack it against the new fence. The girls and I worked inside, whilst the boys continued outside. Afterwards we all worked together to straighten up our cemented area. It's amazing how much work can get done when we all join in. I've just come in from gathering more wood for the fire and couldn't help but smile to myself at how nice and clean it all looks.

I don't say all of this Miriam to make you feel even worse but to let you know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You're working so hard to teach the girls the importance of keeping your home beautiful and whilst it may not feel like it right now, they will get better and better at this as they grow older. Consistancy is the key, I promise.
