Leila is six

I can hardly believe that Leila is six already.
She said to me after her birthday that she felt the same as she did when she was five. I can relate to that a bit too!
Leila's birthday fell on Sunday this year, which meant a family dinner on the day, and a party on the Monday. She wanted an "under the sea" theme, and spent much of the day in a mermaid costume. The little bra arrived a few years ago in a bag of hand me downs, and I insist that they only use it for mermaid dress ups (and not if there are friends over).
Leila's gifts included a shell necklace, a set of Roald Dahl audio books, a Disney princess nightie, a pop up "under the sea" book and a DS lite.  She is such an expressive kid: she unwrapped with great enthusiasm and gave out little screams of delight as each gift was opened.  she was also very exited about it finally being her turn to stand up for the birthday song in Primary closing exercises.

Leila asked for fruit loops for breakfast, banana and yogurt for lunch, and crumbed fish for dinner.  We also had fizzy drink and spicy potato wedges with an avocado dip. I was not very interested in desert, having cooked biscuits and party food all afternoon. Fortunately she was happy to just have cupcakes made from left over sticky-date-cake mixture (I made a small cake for tomorrow's party).
Damien loves playing with fire. If he wasn't a chemist I think he would like to be a professional pyrotechnic.

Goodheavens... six already! How time flys. It does look like she had a wonderful day though, and I do hope you all manage to have a "rest day" (I'm having one today!)
