Flower girls

Our Niece Kira-Lee Norman askied Bethany to be a flower girl for her wedding. She was happy to invite Leila as well when I noted that Leila would probably feel very left out. Thank goodness. Hannah coped okay, but Leila would have turned green and thrown a hissy fit.

I found a pattern I really liked, and tried to copy it. This meant more sewing software, but then I wasn't happy with the first bodice, and actually forked out money on a paper pattern. That worked fine, until the girls put the dresses on and off a few times, and I discovered that the double georgette didn't like being serged into a narrow seam allowance and kept splitting.

My back-up plan took some major running around. The two littlest girls got matching lacy old-world type dresses for Christmas (from Best-n Less would you believe). I had bought the matching skirt and cut it up to make flutter sleeves.
I was able to order a size 7 for Bethany, and pulled off the sleeve trick again. Here is the result:

Pretty lace.

Black ribbons and flowers to match the black bridesmaid's dresses.

Hannah was fascinated with the gel pearls in the flower decorations.
Hannah was not an official flower girl, but no one seemed to mind her being dressed the same.  She didn't get to scatter petals and was only slightly put out by that.

So glad each of the girls felt included in an appropriate way. The dresses look really nice... a Leila melt down over this issue would have been terrifying!
