Saturday was a very big day: Damien left early for a Navy Band Gig at Queenstown (5 hour bus drive) and I dropped the big girls off at the dance school for their tap and ballet classes.
Hannah got to play at Granny's house, while I raced in to work to do the pre-discharge checks on a pacemaker patient who received his device on Friday. As I pulled up at the hospital I got a call from the emergency department about a defibrillator patient, so it was a busy 80 minutes or so before I got away. The paperwork is still waiting to be done.
Just after midday (with Hannah back in tow) we raced from the dance school to the city dance supply shop to spend yet more money on shoes, stockings and bobby socks for the eisteddfod. Then we flew up the Southern Outlet and arrived at the Mt Nelson theatre just in time for their Tap dress rehearsal. The whole dance school ran their eisteddfod items in costume, so we got to watch a number of items in between the ones my girls were involved in.
The photo shows Beth and Leila in their Tigger costumes. It is a cute song-and-dance item (bouncy, flouncy, pouncy wouncy fun fun fun fun fun etc.). The tails are attached to their wrists with fishing line.
I was well prepared with snacks and also gave them their pocket money for May (they hadn't asked for it yet) so they happily visited the kiosk with their own money. There's quite a fund raising push at the dance school, and I haven't put much effort in, so my banana bread donation went down well at the kiosk: I even brought along my toaster so they could serve it hot (just like McCafe, but about one fifth of the kilojoules).
Little Hannah was an angel. It was much easier for me this time around (compared to last year) because I wasn't breastfeeding, she could cope without a nap, and was enthralled by all the action on the stage.
We were all pretty worn out when we finally escaped at about 4:30. The kids watched Disney's Alice in Wonderland, and then had a very very simple dinner and went to bed without a bath or anything. It was great to see how hard they worked, and how well they listened to the dance teachers. I felt very proud.

tigger is cool!
They look so great in their costumes. These kind of days are big on the whole family. I wish we had the same amount of energy as the kids, so we could keep going and going and going - Roo, tigger, anyone....some energy please :)
very cute photos!!
