Difficult day for me. No energy, head cold, unmotivated etc. And Tired.
I ran some errands this morning, and then had to collect Bethany from school (tummy trouble). It was genuine, but she recovered quite quickly, keeping Hannah entertained and awake.
We collected Leila from School at the usual time and drove off to the Dance school for their 3:30 to 5:00 lesson. I realised I was in trouble about a third of the way there. Too tired to be driving. Seriously, dangerously tired.
I kept driving. Hannah fell asleep on the way, so I dropped the girls off on the street, watched to make sure they made it into the building and then immediately found a quiet nearby spot to park and rest. When I set my phone alarm I realised I had next to no battery. It ran out while I slept for an hour. Unfortunately, so did the car battery.
My headlights don't automatically turn off until I open the drivers door - I fell asleep with the headlights on.
I woke up about half an hour before the class finished, realised what I had done, and then discovered that I had also mislaid my wallet. No phone, no wallet, and no car.
Gwen from the dance desk loaned me her mobile. Mum wasn't home (her house was nearest) but Damien quickly spun into action.
Fortunately I had parked in a great spot, with a tree to climb, an interesting rock "mountain" and a dirt hill, and plenty of run-about space away from other vehicles. The girls played without much complaining. I had 3 packets of veggie chips in the car and miraculously found a lollipop in the car boot which kept Hannah happy for quite a while. No one got awfully cold. I am really glad that the kids didn't get too miserable.
I was also really grateful for a husband who didn't laugh at me or tell me off. Damien had to drive his motorbike all the way home, find the jumper leads, and then find us. The leads were faulty, but he found a better set at the nearest service station and got the car going with no further dramas. Thank goodness.
We got home about 20 minutes before the official bed time and found my wallet on the oven where I had left it. Remind me not to do any of that again!

oh dear! what an awful combination of events! I'm really glad you were able to nap though. Sometimes (long ago, when we had a car) I'd get noddy driving home form Hobart to meet the school bus. I'd stop and get out of the car and swing my arms around and jump up and down. Sometimes I'd have to do this in Franklin, Castle forbes Bay, and Port Huon... yep 3 stops in about a 12 min drive. :( Sometimes cold air and loud music just isn't enough! Eating helps, chewy lollies/ banana work.
Strangely I don't have trouble getting sleepy riding the bike, Although I do want to close my eyes when I have a coughing fit, which happens at lest once every ride. Riding with your eyes closed isn't a great plan.
Horray for a husband with jumperleads!
Oh Miriam what a full on day. It's not always easy meeting all the families obligations. It seems to me that whenever we're not at our best things like this begin to happen, one after the other after the other.
Time for bed, snuggle up to that hubby of yours and refuel. Tomorrow will be a better day.
Be kind to yourself. Liz xx
Oh Miriam... I do hope you've had some good sleep since!
