Fortunately nobody complained about sleeping in their curlers. The next morning we worked hard to be ready and out the door in time. I dressed the girls in their costumes and put dressing gowns on over the top, because the venue dressing rooms are crowded, and it is harder to keep track of my Toddler. Even so, the dance teacher insisted on redoing the eye makeup.
I was happy with how the curls turned out. You do get a very different curl from an overlap wrap rather than a sausage wrap. I'm turning into an expert!
Our group danced their "Rockin Robin" routine very well. Compared to the other acts, our choreography was very intense. In the other groups there was a lot of running over here, doing a cute pose and a couple of moves, then running over there and doing something choreographed, whereas our group pretty much had three layers of girls on stage all doing something complicated at once. They danced non-stop, no fillers at all, and I have to add that Bethany's cartwheels were truly fabulous.
We came third. The adjudicator said quite a bit about our group when making the announcement (more than he said about the first and second place winners). He made mention of the complexity, and basically said that we were the stand out group (out of 17 groups) for technique (ie pointed toes etc.) "these are very well trained girls". That made me proud. The winning group had a really different idea involving furry costumes and a psycho teddy, with a hidden trampoline in a giant toy box. It was truly entertaining, but I got the impression that if they had been judged purely on dancing skills, we would have won the event.
Do I think all the sequin sewing was worth it? Well, I'm pretty sure it made absolutely no difference to the final result! Damien teased me about it just after the performance and I pretended to push him off his chair in disgust. Hannah didn't like that one little bit!
Speaking of Hannah, the poor girl got quieter and quieter over the course of the morning, and started to cling. Then her temperature shot right up, and by the time we left she was complaining about stomach pain. She is such a good natured little girl. Fortunately she was much improved by Sunday.

Wow what a day!!! I LOVE the hair Mim, it must have taken hours....Have to say though it's bizarre to see the girls in makeup at their age, although I appreciate that makeup is to dancers what baggy shorts is to basketball players....got to look the part :) xxxLiz
Hum I need more details on the hair... overlap v sausage... explain!
oh and I think you missed a sequin on Beth's shoulder...
